Lloyd Cole at Strathaven Hotel

What a fantastic night we had at the inaugural concert by FRETS ACOUSTIC. The Strathaven Hotel was packed to the rafters to enjoy an acoustic set by Lloyd Cole. He was joined onstage by acclaimed Commotions guitarist and songwriter Neil Clark.

Lloyd was introduced onstage by Radio Scotland’s Billy Sloan, and opened with a version of Rattlesnakes before bringing Neil Clark onstage. The audience of over two hundred was entertained with a selection of old and new songs from Lloyd Cole as a solo artist and from the repertoire of Lloyd Cole and the Commotions. These included Perfect Skin and Lost Weekend, with songs from Lloyd’s latest album, Guesswork. There were also cover versions of the classic T Rex song ‘Life’s a Gas’ and the Warren Zevon track, Werewolves of London.

We’ve put a few photos below from the set and will be adding more to our galleries page shortly.

The night opened with an introduction to FRETS ACOUSTIC by Douglas MacIntyre and Derek Fleming who performed a selection of songs by Marc Bolan and T-Rex, the inspiration behind much of Lloyd Cole’s music.
